shock 'n' roll!

If you want exciting, unpredictable, chaotic, energetic, low down dirty sleazy rock n roll... we're not sure there's a band on the planet we could recommend more strongly than SPiT LiKE THiS.

Decades ago, when an older generation tried desperately to steer their children away from a new and, to them, socially unacceptable musical genre called rock n roll, they feared the terrible influence it would have on the youth of the time. A generation would become rebels and modern civilized society would break down, if you were to believe their concerns. It didn't quite go like that of course, and ain't we all glad the old codgers failed to stop a trend becoming a defining imprint on modern music.

SPiT LiKE THiS

If however, you follow the linear evolution of all those old fashioned fears, the mutated Darwinian result would be SPiT LiKE THiS. They've given themselves their own genre now... Horror Glam Punk Rock. Quite appropriate, we think.

Claiming to have funded the recording of their first EP through sales of Vikki's used panties on eBay, these are exactly the kind of band parents would warn their kids about, and thus ensure they rushed straight out to a gig.

That first EP, Sleaze Sells...But Who's Buying? shot to Number 1 on Amazon and Number 8 in the Rock Charts.

Their reputation for the shocking live shows now precedes them wherever they go, and lead to them being voted Britain's 'trashiest' band in 2004, made the top 10 of a Kerrang readers poll of the best unsigned bands and have featured in dozens of magazines since then.

"What are you listening to tonight?" "SPiT LiKE THiS" - The two Goth Kids in Coronation Street.

The band have shared the stage with the likes of Twisted Sister, The Misfits, Black Label Society, Thin Lizzy, The Damned, LA Guns, Wednesday13 (ex Murderdolls), The Wildhearts, The 69 Eyes, Hardcore Superstar, Trashlight Vision (ex Murderdolls), Towers Of London, Clutch, Hawkwind, Viking Skull, Doro, The Quireboys, Love/Hate, Zodiac Mindwarp, Fozzy, Tokyo Dragons, Blaze Bayley, Breed77, VoodooGlowSkulls, Tigertailz, Johnny Truant, Cancer Bats, Tygers Of Pan Tang, Waysted, Goldblade, Vixen, Saxon, Girlschool, Miss Conduct, Koopa, McQueen, Rachel Stamp, The Ga*Ga*s, Tattooed Millionaires, Vince Ray & The Boneshakers, Nasty Idols, The Briefs... the list goes on.

Lord ZiON

SPiT LiKE THiS was formed in the dying hours of 2002 by Lord ZiON and ViKKi SPiT who discovered that their notion on what made the perfect band was identical. Excitedly, they realized that the nucleus of this perfect band had now become one and the Big Bang occurred shortly thereafter. Choosing the name followed, in honour of the spitting contest they had enjoyed on that fateful night.

SPiT LiKE THiS intend on taking over the world. Don't believe us? Well, their infamous websites (spitlikethis.com / smellyourmum.com) have surpassed 11 million hits in just two years; their e-mailing list now boasts nearly 15,000 members; they have a team of over 2,500 willing " STREET SQUADRON " members that are helping to spread their disease and with a new manager and agent on board, their success is now imminent. .

Therein lies another reason we like 'em so much. In terms of running their band as a business, yet still being able to maintain their creative output, they put 99% of bands to shame. Creative enough to turn their talents to launching www.smellyourmum.com, outrageous in equal measure to the band, it's THE place to go for clothing guaranteed to offend.

How any bands can you think of that could, or even would go to all the trouble of setting up another business just to fund their musical activities? In terms of self promotion, marketing and stamping their 'brand' in the minds of their audience, we can think of few bands that even come close.

Considering management and agents are only a relatively recent addition to their 'team', you've gotta give it to the band for truly doing it 'on their own' in getting things to this point.

In their words... "We won't hurt you, but we won't go away!"

We give 'em 11/10 for effort, energy, determination and self belief.

What you should REALLY do though is go experience them live. We don't think it really matters which specific flavour of rock you're into, a great show is guaranteed, and we think any fan of any kind of rock would be hard pushed not to enjoy a SPiT LiKE THiS show..

Lord ZiON

There's no doubting that this band lives and breaths what they do. You couldn't work this hard, maintain your creative enthusiasm, gig yourself to death, be so inventive with your PR and keep a great two way flow of communication with your fans if you didn't absolutely love doing it.

Plenty of bands have been referred to, or referred to themselves as, the hardest working band in rock n roll. With SPiT LiKE THiS, that might actually be true, though.

Visit their website at www.spitlikethis.com,
Grab some offensive gear at www.smellyourmum.com,
Buy their tunes at all good online stores,
and no matter what... get to a damn gig!

SPiT LiKE THiS are:

LORD ZiON - Vocals
ViKKi SPiT - Bass
CYNDi ROTT - Guitars
ViLE GiLEZ - Drums
